Blood is thicker than water…

Having endured more than their share of tragedy, sisters Lily and Sasha embark on a dream holiday—only to find themselves in hell. Kidnapped by a rich madman, Sasha is sold into slavery, while Lily is forced to join The Collection, a unique bevy of exotic beauties enduring frequent horrors at the hands of elite bidders. However, no amount of pain and suffering will break Lily, who will stop at nothing to save her younger sister. Possibly with help from an unlikely ally.

Love is stronger than loyalty…

Attempting to prove his allegiance to his employer, Jake is tasked with guarding the unruly and uncontrollable Lily. He can’t afford to help her in her quest to free Sasha—not if he hopes to fulfill his own agenda. But in their dark, gritty, tension-filled world, solace is taken wherever it’s found. Bonds are formed and hearts engage despite Jake’s resistance and both their attempts at self-preservation.

When certain secrets come to light, the resulting explosion has breathtakingly bittersweet consequences that, by the end, may not leave everyone whole…or alive.

This book is definitely not for the faint-hearted. The whole thing from start to end is a rollercoaster of emotion and suspense, a thrilling page-turner with heart-wrenching experiences and tender moments.

‘You Loved Me at My Darkest’ is a romantic noir about two Australian sisters who go on a journey to see the world after losing their parents in a fatal car crash, only to find themselves entangled in a dark world where human trafficking is rife and, the only way out is in a body bag.

The story follows the tragic story of Lily Morgan, a fiery young woman whose only goal is to free her sister from what can only be described as Hell on Earth. With the unlikely ally in bodyguard/captor Jake, Lily sets out on an incredible journey of love, loss and finally peace.

High praise indeed for author Evie Harper who not only transported me as a reader into the dark world of human trafficking in the USA but, also into a bubble of hope in handsome ex-Marine Jake who’ll stop at nothing to ensure Lily’s safety.

This book made me laugh, cry, and swear like a sailor and was something I could not put down (to the chagrin of my fiance). It comes highly recommended and is the first in a trilogy that follows a different couple introduced in this novel and how they each learn to cope with the horrors set before them.

This book does contain strong language, upsetting themes and graphic imagery so readers beware if you’re interested in reading this.
